Co-Op & Employment
Once open, the project will require a staff of 25 to 30 full-time employees earning a living wage. We require that the majority of our labor force live within walking distance of the site, thus maximizing the economic impact on the neighborhood. We will also rely on volunteers and students from area high schools and colleges. Employees will include management, botanical, composting and aquaponic specialists, educators, marketing, retail and sales help, delivery/collection drivers and other support positions. Funding will come through sale of the greenhouse products – vegetables, fish and compost – along with energy production, local and national foundations, private investment, plus local and state grants and federal stimulus package funds.
